Barite on Fluorite on
Sphalerite - Rosiclare Level, Minerva Mine #1, Cave-In-Rock District, Hardin Co.,
IL, 19 x 11 cm: Extra large
"Old-Timer" I got from the J. Johnson Collection. Old label states it was
collected in 1957. This is a two sided piece with white bladed barite mostly
covering etched yellow (not as yellow as in the photos) fluorite on one side. The
other side is covered with reddish sphalerite crystals. A unique piece to add to a
suite of Southern Illinois minerals. Midwest collector Harris Precht (many of
the pictures in the Rocks and Minerals Magazines article on the fluorite mines were his
specimens) thought it looked nice and helped to appraise it. |

Fluorite - Calcite on
Fluorite - Bethel Level, Annabel Lee Mine, Harris Creek District, Hardin Co., IL; 21 x 16
cm (9 Pounds!) Looking for a centerpiece
for your display case? Here it is. Large mound of yellow zoned (more
blue in color in person) cubes in excellent condition. The crystals are ecthed
around the base and get bright and lustrous as you move up. I only noticed one
broken corner which had a clean cleave so it doesn't detract from the display.
Quite simply an awesome piece in color and aesthetics. Not many of these available
anymore. |

Calcite on Fluorite -
Minerva Mine, Hardin Co., IL; 13 x 9 cm Hundreds of dogtooth calcite crystals completely cover a pair of fluorite
cubes. Some dinged crystals but they don't detract without close inspection.
Nice display piece for a suite. |

Strontianite and Calcite -
Minerva #1 Mine, Hardin Co., IL; 10 x 7 cm Large white balls of strontianite to 2 cm and smaller sprays of crystals almost
cover the calcite crystals below which cover a fluorite base. Super cabinet size
piece in excellent condition. |

Fluorite and Barite - Denton Mine, harris Creek District, Hardin Co., IL
5 x 3.5 cm Choice unusual specimen with great aesthetics. Yellow and purple
zoned fluorite on a sparkling mound of white barite crystals. A chipped corner on
the secondary cube but man does this look nice. |
